Do you have body aches, feel tired after a full nights sleep, can’t think clearly sometimes, a low immunity, a low libido, mild depression, a feeling of being overwhelmed and a sensitivity to hot and cold? These are the primary symptoms of adrenal fatigue syndrome. You would only have this syndrome if there was no other medical reason for these symptoms. There are other illnesses with these very same symptoms and you should always see a doctor to rule out any serious medical problem.
Adrenal fatigue occurs when a person’s adrenal glands , which sit above the kidneys, do not produce sufficient hormones. The adrenal glands can become overworked by stress, and these glands simply cannot produce enough essential hormones to keep a person feeling energetic. Some hormones produced by the adrenal glands regulate blood sugar. Blood sugar levels are a major factor in the body’s energy levels.
Practitioners of alternative medicine are more likely to produce a diagnosis of this syndrome than medical doctors. There is a wealth of information available about diets, supplements and lifestyle changes that can reduce symptoms. For example, avoiding sugar and eating small, frequent meals can increase energy levels as can mild, non-stressful physical activity. It is important to start implementing these changes as soon as possible. They do take time to have an effect.
